Decision making meetings (Zhou)
The purpose of this meeting is to make a decision. To be effective make sure you
- Include people who will be affected by the decision, and a clearly defined decision maker
- Present options objectively and with proper context
- Gives ideas equal airtime and fair treatment
You want to avoid
- People feeling their side wasn’t well represented
- Spending a long time to make an easily reversible decision
- Flip-flopping decisions
- Wasting time trying to create consensus instead of escalating
